Yadav’s Exuberant Celebration After Dismissing Marnus Labuschagne on Day 4 of WTC Final

On the fourth day of the WTC Final 2023 against Australia, the Indian team had a satisfying performance. The day became even more memorable when fast bowler Umesh Yadav claimed the crucial wicket of Marnus Labuschagne in the third over of the day. With Australia extending their lead to 296 by the end of day 3, India needed to limit their advantage to stage a comeback. Umesh bowled a well-pitched length delivery outside off, baffling Marnus, who could only manage to edge the ball to first slip, where Pujara took a remarkable catch.

Immediately after the wicket, Umesh Yadav unleashed a spirited celebration, recognizing the significance of dismissing Australia’s key batsman. The video of his energetic reaction can be seen below.

Earlier, all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who played a pivotal role for the team on the preceding day with a crucial 51 runs, expressed confidence in India’s ability to chase a target of 450 runs in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval. Ajinkya Rahane also made a significant contribution in the first half of day 3, scoring 89 runs alongside Thakur’s 51, helping India reach a total of 296 in their first innings.

Thakur stated in a post-match press conference, “Cricket is a funny game. You can never say what is the right total, and in this one-off game, especially the ICC finals, you never know. One good partnership and you can even chase down 450 or maybe more than that. Last year, England chased 400 here, and they did not lose too many wickets. So, that’s a positive sign for us. Whatever they put up on the board, it’s too early to make any predictions. We have seen many times in Test cricket that the game changes within an hour. So yes, we like to be optimistic going into the field tomorrow. And yeah, we’ll take it from there.”
