In a significant development, Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V. Senthilbalaji has been arrested by officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money-laundering case. The arrest comes after an exhaustive 18-hour questioning session conducted at the Minister’s residence in Chennai.
Following the completion of the questioning, Mr. Senthilbalaji was taken to the Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital in Chennai at 2 a.m. on June 14 for a medical checkup. The ED officials were accompanied by three vehicles carrying relevant documents related to the case.
The Enforcement Directorate had previously conducted searches at Senthilbalaji’s official chamber in the State Secretariat, as well as his bungalow in Chennai, and other locations linked to him in Karur and Coimbatore. These searches were conducted as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged money-laundering activities involving the Minister.
