Indian diaspora in Canada. Rajya Sabha member, Mr. Vikramjit Sahney, has fervently requested the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to resume visas for People of Indian Origin (PIOs) in Canada.
The resumption of these visas is critical for fostering closer ties between India and the global Indian community, encouraging cultural exchange, and strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations. It is essential to ensure that PIOs, who maintain strong ties with their roots and contribute substantially to both India and Canada, are able to maintain their connections and visit their homeland without hindrance.
Facilitating the resumption of these visas will not only enable the Indian diaspora to visit India but also promote tourism, trade, and investment opportunities between the two nations. It is in line with the government’s continuous efforts to strengthen the bond with the Indian diaspora and enhance their engagement with India.
