PV Sindhu wins Hylo Open in Germany, beats Line Kjaersfeldt in straight games
The two-time Olympic medallist took the Super 500 title in Saarbrucken in 39 minutes for her second crown of the season, a week after finishing runner-up in France.

PV Sindhu won the women's singles title at the Hylo Open in Saarbrucken, Germany, on Sunday, defeating Denmark's Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt 21-12, 21-14 in the final.
The second seed needed just 39 minutes to see off the eighth-seeded Dane, PTI reported. The win at the USD 500,000 Super 500 event is Sindhu's second title of the season, after the Japan Open in July.

Dominant run in Saarbrucken
Sindhu controlled the final from the start, taking the opening game 21-12 before closing out the second 21-14. According to PTI, she went into the match with a 6-1 head-to-head lead over the Dane, whose only win against her came at the 2025 Sudirman Cup. Sindhu had also beaten Kjaersfeldt in straight games when they last met, at the Indonesia Masters in January.
The former world champion did not drop a game all week. In Saturday's semifinal, she beat compatriot Anmol Kharb 21-13, 21-16 in 38 minutes in the first international meeting between the two. Kjaersfeldt came through a marathon semifinal, edging Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong 8-21, 21-19, 28-26.
The title comes a week after Sindhu finished runner-up at the French Open, making it her second straight final on the BWF World Tour.
Lakshya Sen chases double for India
Lakshya Sen was scheduled to play the men's singles final later on Sunday evening against Indonesia's Jonatan Christie, the defending champion. Sen reached the final by beating sixth seed Toma Junior Popov of France 21-17, 21-13. It is his second final of the season after he finished runner-up at the All England Open in March. Sen won the Hylo Open in 2019, while Christie leads their head-to-head 4-3.
For Indian badminton, the result offers a timely lift. Sindhu's run through the week in Saarbrucken without dropping a game came against a mix of seeded and unseeded opponents, including a younger Indian rival in the semifinal, and gives her momentum heading into the final weeks of the international season.
Why it matters
Sindhu strengthens her position in the race for the season-ending World Tour Finals with this result. Back-to-back finals in Europe also signal a strong run of form for India's most decorated women's singles player late in the season.
