Citizens Struggle to Get BDA’s Attention on Broken Roads as Grievance Redressal System Remains Ineffective

Broken Roads

The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) is facing mounting criticism as citizens continue to grapple with broken and pothole-ridden roads across the city. Frustrated by the lack of an effective grievance redressal system, residents find themselves struggling to bring attention to the pressing issue of deteriorating infrastructure in the metropolis.

Numerous complaints have poured in from residents across different neighborhoods in Bengaluru, expressing their anguish and concern over the perilous condition of roads. Potholes and uneven surfaces have become a common sight, leading to frequent accidents, traffic jams, and damage to vehicles.

Despite repeated pleas from citizens to the BDA to address the dire state of the roads, many complainants report that their grievances have gone unanswered or unresolved for extended periods.

Mrs. Shalini Rao, a resident of JP Nagar, shared her frustration, saying, “The condition of the roads in our area has been worsening for months. We have tried reaching out to the BDA through their official grievance portal and helplines, but it seems our complaints are falling on deaf ears. The lack of accountability and response from the authorities is deeply disheartening.”

The ineffective grievance redressal system has raised concerns about the transparency and efficiency of the civic administration in dealing with essential public services and infrastructure maintenance.

In response to the escalating discontent, officials from the BDA have acknowledged the issues and assured citizens of their commitment to addressing the road conditions promptly. They have promised to expedite the resolution of complaints and increase the accessibility of their grievance redressal mechanisms.

A senior BDA official stated, “We recognize the importance of a well-maintained road network for the city’s development. We are aware of the shortcomings in our grievance redressal system, and we are actively working on streamlining the process to ensure that citizen complaints receive timely attention and action.”

The deteriorating road infrastructure in Bengaluru is often attributed to a combination of heavy monsoons, increasing vehicular traffic, and challenges in road construction and maintenance. Citizens, however, stress that prompt action from the authorities is crucial to prevent further deterioration and mitigate safety risks.

Residents are hopeful that the BDA’s acknowledgment of the problem and their commitment to improving the grievance redressal process will lead to tangible improvements in the city’s road infrastructure and instill confidence among citizens.

Meanwhile, citizens are encouraged to continue reporting road-related issues through official channels and be proactive in holding authorities accountable for addressing the critical infrastructural needs of Bengaluru.
