NEET 2023 Result: Prabhanjan J from Tamil Nadu and Bora Varun Chakraborty from Andhra Pradesh Achieve Top Scores with 99.99 Percentile

NEET

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the prestigious medical entrance examination. Two students hailing from South Indian states have emerged as the toppers in NEET 2023. Prabhanjan J from Tamil Nadu and Bora Varun Chakraborty from Andhra Pradesh have both achieved an outstanding score of 99.99 percentile. According to PTI news agency and NDTV, a total of 11.45 lakh candidates have qualified for NEET this year.

As per the NTA’s statement, out of the 20.38 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam, 11.45 lakh have successfully cleared it. Among the states, Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of eligible candidates with 1.39 lakh qualifiers, followed by Maharashtra with 1.31 lakh and Rajasthan with over 1 lakh qualifiers. It is noteworthy that Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra are the two most populous states in the country, while Rajasthan ranks among the top ten in terms of population.

The NEET exam, conducted by the NTA, took place on May 7 in 499 cities across India, including 14 cities outside the country. A total of 4,097 centers were designated for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG). Qualifying in NEET provides students with the opportunity to secure admissions to medical colleges nationwide based on their ranks.

An NTA official mentioned that the NEET exam was conducted in 13 languages, including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Regarding the result, the official stated, “NTA has provided All India Ranks to the candidates. The officials will prepare the merit list based on these ranks for MBBS and BDS seats falling under their jurisdiction.”

The official further clarified that candidates, while applying in their respective states, need to mention their category according to the state category list. State counseling authorities will create their merit lists accordingly, taking into account domicile status. The NTA plays no role in this process.

The official also confirmed that “seven candidates who engaged in unfair practices during the examination have been identified and dealt with in accordance with the rules.” NEET was also conducted outside India in cities such as Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Colombo, Doha, Kathmandu, and Kuala Lumpur. Every year, lakhs of candidates from India and abroad aspire to become doctors and take the NEET exam. This year, the exam was held not only in major cities like Lagos, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore but also in Dubai and Kuwait City.
