In a significant move aimed at easing the financial burden on consumers, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has announced a reduction in the prices of several Nandini dairy products, effective from September 22, 2025. This decision follows the central government’s recent revision of Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on dairy items.
Price Reductions Across Popular Nandini Products
The revised GST rates have led to a decrease in the prices of various Nandini products, including:
Ghee: The price of one litre of Nandini ghee will drop from ₹650 to ₹610.
Butter: The cost of 100 grams of Nandini butter will be reduced from ₹62 to ₹58.
Paneer: The price of 200 grams of Nandini paneer will decrease from ₹95 to ₹92.
Curd: The price of one litre of Nandini curd is expected to be reduced by ₹4, reversing the previous hike implemented in April 2025.
These adjustments are in line with the government’s decision to lower GST on dairy products from 12% to 5%, aiming to make essential items more affordable for the public.
Implementation and Availability
The new prices will be applicable across all Nandini parlours, cooperative outlets, and retail points throughout Karnataka. Consumers can expect to see the revised prices reflected on product labels and at the point of sale starting September 22.
Impact on Consumers and the Dairy Sector
This price reduction is expected to provide relief to households across Karnataka, particularly benefiting middle and lower-income families who rely on Nandini products as staple items. By passing on the GST benefits to consumers, KMF aims to boost the affordability and accessibility of nutritious dairy products.
Moreover, the price cuts are anticipated to stimulate demand for dairy products, thereby supporting local dairy farmers and strengthening the cooperative model that underpins KMF’s operations.
Looking Ahead
As the festive season approaches, the timing of this price reduction is seen as a strategic move to make essential dairy products more accessible to consumers. KMF’s decision underscores its commitment to supporting both consumers and producers, ensuring that quality dairy products remain within reach for all.
