assengers waiting for Air India flight AI589 from Delhi to Mumbai found themselves in a frustrating ordeal today as the flight, scheduled to depart at 7:00 am, experienced extensive delays. The situation escalated as the delay stretched over 4 hours, leaving travelers, including children and elderly individuals, distressed and without breakfast.
The chaos ensued as passengers, who had queued since 5:30 am for boarding, were left uninformed about the cause of the delay until later being told it was due to a bird stuck in the engine. Despite the prolonged wait, airline staff allegedly provided no assistance or alternative arrangements.
Adding to the dismay, new tickets were issued for a later departure time of 9:30 am, but uncertainty loomed as passengers were informed that even this time might be further delayed, potentially until after 12.00 noon.
Manjula, one of the affected passengers, expressed her frustration, stating she had rushed to the airport at dawn with her two children, unsure of how they would manage to reach Mumbai in time for their vacation cruise, which was scheduled based on the initial flight time.
As tensions ran high and dissatisfaction grew among stranded passengers, concerns about missed connections and important engagements became more pronounced. Many are now contemplating legal action should they suffer losses due to the airline’s alleged mismanagement.
Air India is yet to provide an official statement addressing the situation, leaving passengers anxiously awaiting updates and resolutions to their plight.
