In a joint operation, Bengaluru police apprehended two bikers and seized a dagger along with a significant quantity of ganja from them in a neighborhood in southwestern Bengaluru. The successful operation comes as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order.
Acting on a tip-off received from vigilant citizens about suspicious activities, a team of police officers from the local jurisdiction swiftly launched an operation to intercept the two individuals on a motorbike. The bikers were believed to be involved in the illicit transportation and sale of contraband substances.
During the operation, the police were able to corner the suspects near a residential area in the southwestern part of the city. Upon searching them and their motorbike, the officers discovered a sharp dagger and a sizeable quantity of ganja, an illegal drug prohibited under Indian law.
The police have arrested the two suspects, identified as Ravi Kumar (26) and Suresh (29), both residents of Bengaluru. The authorities are investigating the case to determine the source of the illegal substances and their intended destination.
Speaking about the operation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the region, Mr. Ajay Kumar, stated, “The Bengaluru Police are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the residents. This successful operation is a testament to the vigilance of our citizens and the dedication of our law enforcement personnel. We will continue to crack down on illegal activities and maintain peace in the city.”
The seizure of the dagger and ganja highlights the ongoing challenge of combating drug-related offenses in urban centers. The Bengaluru Police have been actively working to dismantle drug networks and apprehend those involved in trafficking and distribution.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods promptly. Public cooperation is considered essential in the fight against crime and ensuring a safe environment for all residents.
The arrested individuals will be charged with possession and distribution of illegal substances, as well as possession of a dangerous weapon. They will be presented before a court of law to face legal proceedings, and if found guilty, they could face significant penalties as per Indian law.
The Bengaluru Police continue to encourage the public to assist in maintaining the city’s safety by reporting any criminal activities or information related to drug peddling anonymously through dedicated helplines.
